The challenge

Allstate Health Solutions was losing ground in the individual benefits market due to its reliance on paper applications, which limited efficiency in a competitive landscape. Agents, brokers, and agencies needed a user-friendly digital platform to streamline policy sales and administration.

The approach

Following extensive agent interviews, The49 envisioned a digital solution focused on agent success. We proposed a user-centric platform designed to simplify the sales process and reduce reliance on outdated paper methods. Starting with a limited product range, we aimed to demonstrate ease of use and value, creating a foundation to scale the platform with additional products and features.

The execution

Our cross-functional team collaborated closely with agents to shape a digital experience centred on their needs, rather than merely replicating paper applications. After the platform’s initial launch, we leveraged data insights to expand product offerings and onboard more agents. Continuous enhancements included tools for business management, customer self-education resources, and features to reduce agent workload, all reinforcing the platform’s usability and efficiency.

The impact

Paper applications dropped from 38% to 4%, with $2 million in monthly revenue by 2022. With the addition of under-65 products, daily revenue hit $3.9 million during peak season in 2023, and new sales records are being actively being set in 2024 even prior to our core enrollment period.

The future

The platform continues to evolve through data-driven improvements, delivering increased revenue and efficiency. The ongoing focus remains on optimising the agent experience and scaling the platform to support Allstate Health Solutions’ growth.
